Edwinstowe Christmas Concert

Hi Singers and supporters, We had a cracking good Concert on Saturday 16 December and in the midst of Christmas preparations thought I would make a brief report on the event. Apart from the excellent singing by the whole Choir, all the soloists gave sparkling performances. The Ensemble, a highly talented foursome consisting of Penny, Margaret, Vera and Sandra sang two lovely Christmas songs by Greg Gilpin. "I see a Star" and "A Star dances, an Angel sings." I wondered if we were starting a Greg Gilpin appreciation group as Ash's two gorgeous girls also sang a Greg Gilpin song, "Why we Sing," accompanied by Ash. It was quite obvious why they sing. They have lovely voices and gave a very c

The Alders

Hi everyone, Well done to all the choir members who turned out for the two hour, half marathon at the Alders Pub/Restaurant on Saturday 9th. December. We thought it would perhaps be a long haul, but it was such a pleasant experience that the time passed really quickly. We were tucked nicely into a cosy corner in an absolutely packed restaurant with quite a hum of conversation, but as soon as we began to sing, heads turned, glasses paused on way to mouths and cutlery hesitated. All in all a successful gig, an appreciative audience, a

It was literally warmer outside than in but that's where the cold stopped. We had the warmest welcome from a wonderful capacity audience who warmly applauded our singing. They sang enthusiastically in the audience participation carols and Gill must have lost pounds running up and down the aisle whilst encouraging EVERY ONE to stand up, sit down and sing during " The Twelve Days of Christmas." David delighted with a viola solo with my favourite setting of "In the bleak Midwinter, Jan made them smile a

December Update

A Happy Christmas to you all! Yes I know it's early, I just wanted to be among the first to send out jolly greetings before my jolliness becomes buried under wrapping paper, cards and Christmas cake mixture! The Choir is well into rehearsals for our Christmas engagements. We perform a great variety of Christmas songs and Carols to suit all tastes. Listening to a Choir singing Christmas music ought to be on prescription. It is a real "Feel Good" activity, almost guaranteed to lift the spirit especially as the Wintry weather takes over. Let's hope for a kind Winter, (but cold enough to be nasty to the army of slugs in our garden.) Our engagements for December are; Saturday 2 December
