The Dukeries Singers & Newstead Abbey Singers Together

After many years of planning, we ____The Dukeries Singers , and the Newstead Abbey Singers eventually found a date and venue that suited both parties and arranged a joint Concert. It was terrific!! . The Newstead Abbey Singers were only 13 in number but my word they made a powerful sound. They sang all their pieces a cappella and I don't think they dropped even a semitone anywhere along the way. Under the skilled direction of Nick Thorpe they produced a programme of song ranging from early 16C until the present day. They are a very accomplished choir. Vicky Thorpe, accompanied by her husband Nick also played a very pretty flute solo. The Dukeries Singers as always gave a varied programm

April Update

We are well into Spring and the garden demands more and more of my attention. Let's hope that enthusiasm matches necessity and exhaustion can be ignored. I could perhaps have a short sit down during Choir Practice although we usually prefer to stand to sing! We rehearse every Wednesday evening from 7-30pm. until 9-00pm. upstairs in the Theatre Refreshment area at the Dukeries Academy, Ollerton. This is best accessed via the Leisure Centre entrance and car park. We are busy rehearsing for two Concerts. Saturday 6 April 2019 A joint Concert with the Newstead Abbey Singers to be given at St. Paulinus Church in Ollerton at 7-00pm. This joint Concert will be our first with this Choir and
